HOW TO PLAY

The game starts with a specified country, indicated by "You Are In" followed by the country's name (e.g., "You Are In the United Kingdom").

Below "Which Country is Closer?", you'll see two options. Your task is to decide which of these two countries is closer to the starting country.

Click on the country you believe is closer. A white border will appear, and the distances to both countries will be calculated and displayed. If you chose correctly, your chosen country will highlight in green; if incorrectly, it will highlight in red.

If you chose correctly, your score at the top will increase by 1, and the game will continue. The correct country you just chose will become the new starting country, and a new round will begin with two new country options to choose from! How high can you score?

INFORMATION

This game contains 197 countries, as defined by Sporcle. Distance between countries is calculated as the distance between the two closest points in those countries (for example, any bordering countries would have a distance of 0). Only mainland areas and nearby territories that are geographically close to the mainland (such as Sicily or Tasmania) are included in the calculations. Distant territories (such as Alaska, Hawaii, and Réunion) are not included.
